'Thank You' button available to ALL users!

Postby .: DK :. on Wed Aug 02, 2006 8:24 pm

In the DK area we've talked about threads with lots of views but no comments or thank you's - so how about making a 'Thank You' button and make it available to guests also? I know it's not only an 'issue' in the DK area ;)

Yes, guests also because the entire forum is already available to that group and I bet a big part of the views are 'made' by them. So why not give them a chance to say 'Thank You' without having to register.

The 'Thank You' post could be split in two, - something like:

Registered users who thanks the poster: xx

Also xx guests appreciate it!

I agree, good point. Some people click to download a link but never say thanks, maybe its because they cannot be bothered to write, or just think it would be stupid to write one word "thanks" cos the posts would be 700 pages long.
A thanks button would be a good idea.

Nah. I don't like thank you buttons, it's just for lazy people who can't be bothered typing a word or two. Does it take too much time typing "thank you" or "thanks"? What makes you think they can be bothered clicking a button to say thanks anyway?

I totally agree with Kael. If ppl are 2 lazy 2 write a word or 2, u can bet that they won't click on any button also.

A button takes the 'personal touch' away. Always nicer to type a word or two.

IMHO a button would get more responses but who would really care?

A releaser who just wants more gratification maybe?

how about a "this release is crap" button while we're at it.

and a button through which people can know what you have eaten

and a button to remotely turn random people's computer off ?

j/k of course.

my opinion is :

1. I don't really understand why some topics are :
first post : a link or two
and the thirty following posts :
"thanks dude you're so great" :lala:
or
"man i love this thanks" :hammer:

if you want to thank someone, there are pms, posts with "thanks a lot" and nothing else are totally useless.

2. if people don't register, either they want to stay private, either they are just here to leech the links.
in both ways I doubt they would click a button, either to thank, flamme or cure AIDS.

Kael : releasers who want gratification or fame when releasing, in my opinion, are VERY lame, since 99% of the releases found here can be found in other places.

Whoa, so the insults begin...releasers are shitting their asses off, gathering sources, ripping, encoding, releasing, and this is the gratification they are getting...Great, fucking great, this is the reason why i never joined any release group, inspite of getting many invites...And what in the fucking hell is wrong with thinking of getting some thanks u's...we ain't fucking gandhi, u know...

My point is, if someone does releases for fame (which is the same as expecting thanks for some work) then maybe this someone should join a scene group. Those groups are full of ready to lick 'elite' members. And their tongues are soft. :D

Besides, I don't see where I insulted anyone.

I just said that posts containing just "thank you" are useless (waste of space, adds loads of uninteresting infos to the topics which could be shorter, while people still could thank you on PM if they feel the need), and that looking for fame was not a quality.
